Every workplace regardless of the industry, has hazards.
Different tools keep safety at the forefront of our thinking every day, but it’s how we use these tools that help us mitigate risk.
At Ecoplant Australia, we have our own 6 Stage Safety Framework to keep our staff safe and ensure all safety compliance requirements are met.
The fifth stage of our Safety Framework involves a daily Toolbox Talk/ JSA. Our Toolbox Talks include a Job Safety Analysis which is used to identify any unforeseen risks and also incorporates new risks. JSAs are for day to day hazard identification. They keep our employees conscious of the space they’re working in and remain aware of the dangers they see every single day. These hazards include snakes, heat stress and the public.
The key with risk and safety is to assess the environment based on worst case scenarios. Tools such as risk assessments and JSAs are simply to help us remain vigilant.
Keeping the tools usable, training staff and appointing safety focussed roles, continued communications regarding safety are applied too to make sure complacency doesn’t set in.
